First inhabited by Native Americans, Yosemite National Park is a spectacular natural wonder distinguished by towering granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and striking views. The centerpiece of the park is Yosemite Valley, carved by a glacier 10,000 years ago. Only seven miles long and about a half a mile wide at its widest point, it is aligned with craggy peaks, polished granite domes, and two magnificent waterfalls. The smaller fall, Bridal Veil falls, is 620 feet tall and forms a slender ribbon at the western end of the valley. The larger fall, Yosemite Falls, drops an impressive 3000ft to the valley floor below. Divided into two stages, the lower half is accessible by a short stroll along a newly constructed path.
